No, Gingerbread Manor does not provide childcare. The workshops are meant to be a family activity that encourages team work and creativity.
I need to know what day participants will be coming to the workshop for inventory planning purposes. Other than that the workshops are an Open House format, arrive when it is convenient and plan to stay as long as you need.
It depends on the size of the house, the number of people in your party, and how much time you spend being creative. Participants should schedule at least an hour, preferably two for larger and more intricate houses. Aside from closing time, there are no time limits, participants can take as long as they want to complete their creations.
Be sure to sign up for a house before the workshop, so that we know you are coming and it can be ready for you. When you arrive at the workshop, you will select your house from all the available houses. Pick a table to decorate at, then choose your decorating items from our extensive candy table. Get your icing and you are now ready to start decorating.
Constructing a sturdy gingerbread house takes time. Often houses fall apart if the gingerbread is baked and not given time to dry before being constructed into a house, or once built the icing is not allowed to set before the decorations are applied. Our house pieces are baked and dried before we construct them into houses and once built given at least 24 hours for the icing to set before we make them available to be decorated. This ensures that they are sturdy and ready to be decorated.
It is not required that you bring candy. However, if you want your house to be very specific you may want to bring candy to ensure that you have exactly what you want. Many patrons have designed their house based on a favorite sports team or cartoon character. In this case I recommend that you bring some candy\decorations to augment what will be available at the workshop.
There will be over 100 types of candies, cereals, cookies, crackers, and pretzels to choose from. Some favorites are butter cookies, fruit slice candy, gum drops, gumballs, gummy candies, jelly beans, licorice, marshmallows, mints, pretzels sticks, and pretzel twists.
NECCO Wafers are no longer being produced. I do not plan to have them available this year. ( Necco wafer factory abruptly shuts down after company is sold to unknown buyer ) There may be a change coming ( https://www.spanglercandy.com/our-brands/necco-wafers )

Yes, a 24 hour notice is required to make sure we have it prepared for you. However, please be aware this icing will not last as long, nor set as firmly as icing that contains Meringue Powder, powdered egg whites.
